Volunteers
Just a few hours is all it takes to make a difference in the lives of our families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Volunteers donate their time and energy during three or four hour shifts weekly, biweekly or monthly. This role is the backbone of our well maintained House. This is a golden opportunity for someone who wishes to contribute hands-on to the well-being of the families who stay at "The House That Love Built." Interested individuals must be friendly, responsible, and enjoy working with others. Experienced volunteers provide essential training. Duties include preparing rooms for families, cleaning common areas, niche work and other much-needed activities and tasks.
House Within The Hospital Volunteers
Volunteers commit to twelve hours per month. Volunteers are required to complete Strong Memorial Hospital Annual Health Assessment, Strong Memorial Hospital Mandatory In-service, HIPAA Training as well as at least three hours of traditional RMH training. Duties include preparing rooms for families, cleaning common areas, light reception and office work, and miscellaneous errands. The volunteers must be comfortable with dealing with diverse clients under stress. Volunteers should be comfortable dealing with parents and family members facing crisis or grieving.
Board Members
Our Board of Directors currently consists of 24 members representing a cross section of the Rochester community. Our Board members offer their expertise in setting a strategic vision and providing financial oversight needed to guide the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester. Board members are nominated and elected on to the board.
Niche Workers
We rely on volunteers who offer their talents or assist us with specialized tasks and responsibilities such as: driving our van, organizing our pantry, pet therapy, art projects, office tasks, mailings, repairs, massage therapy, etc. We are grateful to our niche volunteers because their focused efforts go a long way in keeping things running smoothly, improving our service. If you have a special skill, talent or interest, please share your ideas with our Director of Volunteers.
Special Events
Each year, the Ronald McDonald House generates needed revenue through a variety of fundraisers. Thanks to our volunteers our Annual ABC Sale, WBEE Radiothon and Red Tie Gala have been successful in raising revenue for our programs. Volunteers are needed for a wide variety of roles for our special events such as collecting and moving donated items to our ABC sale site, answering calls at the WBEE Radiothon or setting up auction items and decorations at our Red Tie Gala. If you have a talent or skill or interest, we have a place for you.
