Telephones

Telephones are available in each bedroom as well as numerous public areas.  Guests may be reached by phone at the House at (585) 442-5437.  A phone extension to your room will be provided upon check in. Phones are available in the guest rooms for receiving incoming calls or making outgoing collect or calling card calls.  There is a designated line to Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong from the room and public area phones.  Prepaid phone cards provided by PaeTec Communications are available on a limited basis.

Pagers
Pagers are available for families with critical medical situations. Inquiries can be made in the office. They can be accessed from any touch tone phone.  A $25 refundable deposit is required upon signing out a pager. 

Computers
There is a computer for adult use only in the library.  Appropriate internet use  is expected. 

Televisions
There are five TV viewing areas located throughout the House.  However, televisions are not permitted in the bedrooms.

Laundry
Laundry facilities and cleaning supplies are available at no cost.  An ironing board and iron are also provided in the laundry room for guests’ convenience.

Nursing Moms
A breast pump is available for nursing mothers.  It is compatible with attachments provided by Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.  Please inquire in the office. 

Nearby Shopping and Banking

The House is within ten minutes of several shopping areas, restaurants and movie theaters.  Banking  facilities are nearby and limited banking services are available in Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.  Maps and directions are available in the office.

Accessibility
The House is equipped with an elevator, ramps and bathroom handrails to meet the needs of those with disabilities.  Should you need a handicap accessible bedroom, please notify office staff  prior to arrival.

Child Guests
The Ronald McDonald House is a family friendly and child friendly place.  Our House offers a family recreation room, a secured toddler play area in the kitchen, a play yard, a library as well as many toys, books and children’s movies.  Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Visitors
Family and friends are welcome at the Ronald McDonald House.  We do ask that visitors check in at the office upon arrival so we know who is in the House in case of an emergency.  Visitors should leave by 10:00 pm.  Visitors may register as overnight guests, but only with the manager during office hours.

Support
The staff and volunteers of the House hope to ease the burden of guests' medical crisis by providing comfort and safety during guest stays in our “home-way-from-home”.   Many of our families have developed long-time friendships with other families they have met while staying at the House.

The following illustrate some of our policies and expectations for guests:

  • Smoking and use of any tobacco product is not allowed anywhere on the Ronald McDonald House campus.
  • No alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or weapons on House property.
  •  Pets are not permitted.
  • Proper attire includes shirts and shoes.
  • You are expected to visit the hospital on a regular basis.
  • Eating and drinking are in designated areas only.
  • The Ronald McDonald House is not responsible for personal belongings left in the House, on the property, or in automobiles.
  • Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
  • Guests are responsible for the cleanliness of their bedroom and bathroom.  Guests are expected to clean up after themselves in the common areas of the House.
  • Checking in with office staff periodically helps us plan for future use of our rooms.
