(Rochester, January 17)… The Rochester Knighthawks were “cooking” last Saturday in their 22-12 win over the Philadelphia Wings in their season opener. On Thursday, the players will do some more cooking as they prepare dinner at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester.
“We visited the Ronald McDonald House before Christmas and I know that the players were impressed with the staff and the services they provide to the families staying there,” said Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. “Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to be together and close to their loved ones in times of need and the Knighthawks are happy to know that in some small way we can help these families and kids at their time of need. Our players were the ones who wanted to do whatever they could to support the House and I am sure they will enjoy the cooking experience.”
Players Jarrett Davis, Joe Walters, Joel White and Stephen Keogh will make spaghetti dinner for the residents and staff at the 333 Westmoreland Drive house on January 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The players will serve the meal around 6:00 p.m. Media are welcome to attend the event.
“We are so thrilled to have the Rochester Knighthawks support the Ronald McDonald House of Rochester! Cooking a meal for our families is a great way to help out,” said Carol DeMoulin, Executive Director. “Nothing is more comforting after a long day of being at the hospital. I know the kids are very excited about meeting the players, and we look forward to partnering with the team even more in the future.”
The Knighthawks partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities extends beyond Saturday’s event. Earlier this season, players joined forces with the Ronald McDonald House and participated in the canned food drive at the West Henrietta Road McDonald’s.
